Format: e-ARC
My Rating: 5 stars/5

Synopsis: Blythe and her friends — Gabrielle, and brother and sister Tucker and Tanya — have always been a tight friend group, attending a local high school and falling in and out of love with each other. But an act of violence has caused a rift between Blythe and Tucker . . . and unexpected bursts of aggression and disturbing nightmares have started to become more frequent in their lives.

The strange happenings culminate in a shocking event at school: Gabrielle is found covered in blood in front of their deceased principal, with no memory of what happened.

Cracks in their friendship, as well as in their own memories, start appearing, threatening to expose long-forgotten secrets which could change the group’s lives forever. How can Blythe and her friends trust each other when they can’t even trust their own memories?

My thoughts from the Vault

Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC of this book. I chose to review it and this in no way impacts my opinion of it.

Let us pretend for just a moment that I am not completely obsessed with Kelley Armstrong and all of her work. That this is the first of her novels I’ve ever read. If this was the first Armstrong novel I read, I would be running out to purchase every novel she ever wrote. I could not put this book down. Within literal pages, I was hooked. By 13% I wanted to call in sick to work so I could continue reading and finish the novel in one sitting. Armstrong has such a way of weaving stories that ensnares me and holds me hostage until the very last page.

When this story begins, we follow Blythe as she struggles through a day at her private STEM school, a perk offered by her parents research lab employers. Then her friend Gabrielle has a mental breakdown and attacks the high school VP. Upon waking up Blythe learns she’s suffering from memory loss due to hitting her head. But then the cracks start to appear in her memories that will change everything.

“Do you want to do something bad?” Absolutely I do. This novel had the right amount of eerie mystery that I love. While some may solve the mystery faster than the characters live it, it was still an incredible journey to go on. The plot was fast paced and captivating, keeping you turning pages until there are none left.

If you enjoy thrilling mysteries and captivating novels, this is one you won’t want to miss. Kelley Armstrong hits yet another home run with Someone is Always Watching.
