Title: Fury of the Gods
Author: John Gwynne
Published: October 24, 2024
Format: e-ARC
My Rating: 4 stars/5
Synopsis: THE FINAL BATTLE FOR THE FATE OF VIGRIÐ APPROACHES
Varg has overcome the trials of his past and become an accepted member of the Bloodsworn, but now he and his newfound comrades face their biggest challenge yet: slaying a dragon.
Elvar is struggling to consolidate her power in Snakavik, where she faces threats from within and without. As she fights to assert her authority in readiness for the coming conflict, she faces a surely insurmountable task: reining in the ferocity of a wolf god.
As Biorr and his warband make their way north, eager for blood, Gudvarr pursues a mission of his own, hoping to win Lik-Rifa’s favour and further his own ambitions.
All paths lead to Snakavik, where the lines are being drawn for the final battle – a titanic clash that will shake the foundations of the world, and bear witness to the true fury of the gods.
My thoughts from the Vault
Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC of this book. I chose to review it and this in no way impacts my opinion of it.
When I received the e-mail from Netgalley informing me that my request to review this ARC had been approved, I was ecstatic. The first two books in the Bloodsworn Saga made it onto my list of favourite books almost immediately. I grabbed The Shadow of the Gods based off of the cover but by the end of the first chapter, I was hooked.
The story continues right where it left off in The Hunger of the Gods. Varg has been granted an akáll in his quest to get revenge for his sisters death. Elvar now the Jarl of her fathers land. Orka defying Rotta and refusing to tell him where Ulfrir is. Everyone gearing up for the fight of Gods.
I enjoyed reading this novel. While I did find it a bit slower than the other two, there was still a lot happening and it was a great read. I enjoyed the excitement and anxiety of seeing who would win out in the end and who would live and who would die.
I thought this was a wonderful conclusion to an epic trilogy and I loved the character arcs and growth. I will definitely be re-reading this series again in the near future because one read through of Fury of the Gods is definitely not enough.
